RELIGIOUS EDUCATION

My thanks to all the children in our Religious Education Class for the hard work (and fun!) put into our Thankful Trees.  I hope everyone's tree made it home okay (Grace and I had to reassemble ours).  If your tree is still tipping over, please try taking the stones and paper out and putting some dirt in the bottom of the planter.  Then you can put the stones back up on the top to make it look finished!

I suggested that the children have their tree with them (if possible) on Thanksgiving Day and ask their family and friends to add leaves to the tree.  You may need to make more.  I was just free-form cutting them out of fall-colored construction paper.  Then use string or yarn to make the hangers.  If the opportunity is there to take a picture of your Thankful Tree and whoever wants to be in the picture, I would love to have a copy of that picture emailed to me.

I believe that we are all going to be in town on Sunday, so we will be having our Religious Education class next Sunday (Nov 25th).  I've asked the children to do Chapter 7 in their books.

I also mentioned to the children that we will start planning and learning about Christmas starting next Sunday.  We will be having a special children's area during the St. Sharbel Christmas Hafli on Dec 15th.  We are hoping to have a separate room that the children come back and forth to during the Hafli (and eliminate the running around the school).  We definitely want the children to enjoy the Hafli and being with their families, but to also have an area to do some arts and crafts, maybe watch a movie and just have an area to 'chill out'.  I am looking for parents and/or young adults to help me with this room/area.  I think if we have enough adult volunteers, we could set up short 'shifts' so none has to miss too much of the Hafli.  If you would be able to help, maybe for a half hour, please let me know and I will set up a schedule.

I also want to thank the parents of these wonderful children.  You all have been so kind and I appreciate your support more than I can tell you.

I wish you all a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving.  I personally will be giving thanks for having these wonderful children in my life.

Love,

6 cents             provides water for a thirsty kid

$1                     can immunize a child against measles for life

$2                     provides nutrition to three hungry kids

$3                     can provide a child with a pencil, paper pad and a pen to use in the classroom

$12                   can buy 20 packets of high-protein biscuits to feed malnourished children

$17                   can immunize one child for life against the six leading child-killing diseases: measles, polio, diphtheria, whooping cough, tetanus and tuberculosis
