Decree on the Catholic Eastern Churches Orientalium Ecclesiarum Vatican Council II 1 The Catholic Church values highly the institutions of the Eastern Churches, their liturgical rites, ecclesiastical traditions & their ordering of Christian life. For in those churches, which are distinguished by their venerable antiquity, there is clearly evident the tradition which has come from the Apostles through the fathers and which is part of the divinely revealed, undivided heritage of the universal church. This holy ecumenical synod, therefore, has a special care for the eastern churches, which are living witnesses of this tradition, and wishes them to flourish and to fulfill with new apostolic strength the task entrusted to them. (Read More) Our Mission in NC As a Maronite church in North Carolina our Mission and Goal is to share the treasures of our eastern heritage (culture, family ethics, tradition, spirituality and liturgy) with all our brothers and sisters in the triangle area of North Carolina. Our church which started in Antioch with Saint Maron has more than 1400 years of Christian tradition and a special sacred language: Aramaic, the spoken language of Jesus Christ. Aramaic is still used in our Divine Liturgy (mass), specially during the consecration of the Body & Blood of our Lord and during the invocation of the Holy Spirit and other part of the mass too. Our Liturgy is simple (in English) and very popular. The laity play an important role in the liturgy and in the life of our church. All are welcomed to join us in our worship and in our way of life as a humble community seeking to serve and glorify our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and to live by his eternal life giving commandments. USCCB GROUP RULING (GEN 0928)
. What Are the Major Consequences of Being Included in the Group Ruling? An organization that receives written notification from the diocese of its inclusion in the Group Ruling is recognized as exempt from federal income tax under section 50l(c)(3) of the Code. Contributions are deductible for federal income, gift, and estate tax purposes. The organization is also exempt from federal unemployment tax. However, the states may impose unemployment tax on certain nonprofit organizations even though they are exempt from federal tax. Inclusion in the Group Ruling does not automatically establish exemption from federal excise taxes or from any state or local taxes. Organizations should consult their tax advisors concerning liability for these other taxes. In addition, organizations covered by the Group Ruling, including churches, must pay and withhold Social Security ("FICA") taxes for lay employees.
